GOVERNMENT HOUSE,

HONGKONG.

24th August, 1916.

I have the honour to confirm my telegram of the 24th August which decoded was as follows:-

2.

"Your despatch June 22nd No. 159 Crown Agents may be authorized to pay Mrs. Smith sum not exceed- -ing £1 per week for the present: despatch follows by mail".

The local War Charities Committee is prepared to allow a sum not exceeding £20 to be used to provide an ad interim allowance to Mrs. Smith, but it appears to the Committee that the matter is one for the National Relief Fund Committee to deal with.

I have the honour to be,

Sir,

Your most obedient,

humble servant,

THE RIGHT HONOURABLE

ANDREW BONAR LAV, M.P.,
